"rus books" from Halle (Germany): Historical and Bibliographic Attribution (to the 285th Anniversary of the Translation of "Four Books in True Christianity" by John Arndt)

The article raises the issue of publishing and republishing in Ukraine the creative heritage of one of the outstanding minds of the 18th century, Ukrainian scholar, theologian, first translator from German into Ukrainian, preacher, religious movement, Baroque poetry, professor of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the first Ukrainian scholar-semitologist Simon Todorski (Simeon Fedorovich Teodorski). We are talking about his pietistic translations, which is a significant achievement of the Slavic-Rus book business; his translation of “Four Books in True Christianity” by John Arndt, which gave the opportunity to get acquainted with this outstanding work of the German theologian to the educated Slavic community and became a “harbinger of modern cultural dialogue”. The positive creative atmosphere of the cultural and educational center in Halle is reflected. The question of the current fate of the creative heritage of the Ukrainian theologian, the need to republish the translation of the work of J. Arndt in Ukraine. This translation is a testimony of Ukrainian spiritual history and is a source base for the study of the history of the Ukrainian language, is the first Ukrainian book published in Halle in Ukrainian; it is a page of Ukrainian religious thought, intellectual heritage, evidence of the commonality of Ukrainian and European cultures
